Remington guns have been a part of the community and a learning tool for younglings for decades now. Chances are, you have used one of these guns when you were learning for the first time and your children will learn using the same or an upgraded model in the series as well.
One thing the Remington guns lack is good scope support. It’s been fixed as time went by. With rail upgrades and support from Remington, you can now use almost any scopes that you want with your 783. That doesn’t mean you should buy the first scope that you find while searching for a riflescope.
How do you find the right one for your 783? Well, that’s why we are here. Let’s find out.
At a Glance!
1. Best Overall: Vortex Diamondback 4-12×40 Second Focal Plane Riflescope
Vortex Diamondback is the clear winner here. Diamondback has a big name that it carries around like a champ. Making this highly desirable and a good scope to look for. From performance to appearance, diamondback is one hell of a scope.
2. Best Bang For The Buck: Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope
Bushnell Trophy is undoubtedly the best value-for-money scope here. It’s cheap, made with good materials, good adjustment levels, and good performance throughout. What more could you ask for such a small amount of money?
Top 3 Best Scopes For Remington 783 – Reviews
Our research team took almost 15 hours to pick up the most useful scope for Remington 783. We have considered different experts’ opinions in this regard and also went through 30+ customer reviews to get in-depth ideas on how users perceive these scopes. After a lot of security, we have finally come up with the following reviews.
1. Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40mm SFP Riflescope
Vortex Diamondback is a huge lineup of different products from Vortex. Under this banner, they have riflescopes, spotting scopes, and many other hunting-related equipment. Throughout the years, Diamondback has become a trustee name in the community. So much trust and respect that people don’t bother thinking twice before suggesting this blindly.
The one we have here is a 4-12×40 with a Dead-Hold BDC (MOA) reticle. It’s a mid-range scope with a 40mm objective lens. More than enough to run with the Remington 783.
(+) Reliable
Even under harsh weather and terrible rain, the scope won’t fail you. It’s water and fogproof. The reticle kick on Remington 783 is not too much either. Still, you don’t need to worry about the scope taking damage from falls or bashes. Unless you want to destroy the scope, you have no chance!
(+) Diamondback Doesn’t Hold Back
It won’t hold back your mid-range shooting or scouting place for hunting at all. The maximum magnification of this scope is 12x. Which is more than enough for everyday shooting and tactical practice as well.
(+) Fun To Use Reticle
This reticle won’t clog your screen with unnecessary information. It’s quite easy to use and work around with. I know the comment “unnecessary” may spark some things up. But let’s be real here, not a lot of people are interested in learning the whole Christmas tree reticle. Even though they should.
- The Diamondback 4-12x40 riflescope is one of multiple configurations in the Diamondback lineup and is ideal for big game, predator/varmint, muzzleloader, slug shotgun, and long range applications. Vortex Optics hat included, hat color may vary.
(-) Parallax Fixed
With great price come some great drawbacks. The one nitpicking I have here is the fixed parallax.
2. Leupold VX-Freedom 4-12x40mm Specialty Riflescope
Leupold is not a new name to most of you, they are known for making quality scopes and they have been doing that for a while now. Their optics are known for their clarity and performance during the low light. Thanks to that, they are quite loved among hunters!
Their VX series is a medium-range scope priced appropriately for hunters to get! It’s made out of high-quality aluminum and the chassis is made through CNC machining. The process is flawless and Leupold’s QC is spectacular! The inside of this scope is purged with nitrogen to make it immune to internal fogging.
To prevent water from leaking inside, they also seal the lenses and turrets with O-ring gaskets. Speaking of turrets, they are one of the best regardless of the budget! They are tactile and they feel good to use. They also don’t have issues adjusting on the fly and they hold zero quite well!
The reticle on this scope is etched in the glass. Shockproof structure makes sure your scope isn’t moving around from the recoil of the gun!
(+) Feels And Is Premium
When you touch the scope for the first time, you can feel they put a lot of thought behind creating this scope. The matte finish on this scope is amazing to hand and eye.
VX-Freedom is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum. It’s the same material they use on their most expensive scope as well.
(+) Water Shall Not Pass
Even if the body is made out of alloy, it won’t matter unless the scope is water and fogproof. Both of those minerals can ruin the scope from the inside. Thankfully, the inside of this scope is nitrogen-purged. That makes this scope fogproof. It’s also shockproof as well. Thankfully, the scope is also 100% waterproof.
(+) Optimized For Twilight Light Management Technology
The twilight light management system comes in handy when you are hunting during dusk or dawn. The low-light performance of this scope is quite incredible.
(-) Quick Focus Is Not Fast Enough
Despite having the word quick in its name, Quick Focus sadly falls a lot behind. It’s not fast like a reflex sight for example. That’s why, it’s not an ideal choice for competitive target shooters.

3. Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope
Bushnell Trophy is one of the most affordable mid-range riflescopes made by a known brand. Most people would be skeptical about a product in this budget range. That’s understandable. It’s not the best budget range to work with.
While companies love to cut corners in important aspects, that wasn’t the case here. The cut corners won’t even be visible not his scope.
(+) Amazing Finish
Have to give Bushnell the props for QC on this one. Anodization feels smooth and top quality. There are no visible anodization defects anywhere. If you find a huge defect, asking for a replacement will help.
The build quality is simply amazing. It’s not heavy, it’s not made out of foreign materials, it’s also water, fog, and shockproof.
(+) 7x is Good
The base magnification of this scope is 2x. At 2x, it will support an alternative of red dot sights with a bigger objective lens and field of view. The bigger field of view always comes in handy while hunting on open ground.
(+) We Don’t Ask Questions (Bushnell)
Bushnell provides a no question asked lifetime warranty. As long as you didn’t break the scope in half or didn’t do anything to void the warranty, this scope will stay as it was and perform you for a good couple of years or more.
(-) Windage And Elevation Turret Could Use Some Work
While I appreciate them for being there, it’s also not good to have a scope with bad windage and elevation adjustment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Is It Possible To Use Remington 783 With Scope?
Ans. Absolutely, you can use any scope you like if you install the Picatinny rail on top of the gun. Even with Picatinny rail, there might be some scopes that won’t support 783. Arrogant bunch. To tame them, you will need mounting rings for scope. Those mounting rings will sit on your Remington and let you use scopes that weren’t possible to use before.
Q2. Do I Need To Buy A Remington 783 Scope Mount?
Ans. Yes, as this gun doesn’t come with a supported rail. The first job of yours is to buy a mounting rail for your Remington ASAP. Later down the line, you can go for a different kind of scope with 1 change.
