Excalibur Matrix 380 Review: Is That What You Looking For!

The specs however are not confusing. Quite surprisingly both of them have quite a bit of difference. We are not here to discuss which one is the best. This is going to be the Excalibur Matrix 380 review. Without further ado let’s start.

Excalibur Matrix 380: Outlooks

Excalibur Matrix 380

Specifications | Speed: 380 FPS; Kinetic Energy: 112 ft.lbs; Power Stroke: 13.1 Inches; Draw Weight: 260 LBS; Axle To Axle: 25.75 / 30.62 Inches; Finish: Black Carbon; Weight: 5.9 LBS.

Build Quality And Design

The black carbon finish on this crossbow looks eye candy. Anything that has a matte black finish has my seal of approval. As for the build quality, it’s a lightweight crossbow. Don’t let the 5.9 lbs weight fool you. The crossbow is well-balanced and made with durable materials.

The lightweight and compact design makes it a perfect choice for hunters. You can bring the crossbow to anywhere you want. When the stock of a crossbow is not strong, the recoil can feel quite sharp and may hurt you. Fortunately, that’s not the case here.

Power

Excalibur Matrix 380 is a fairly powerful crossbow. It can generate up to 112 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. When you first look at the crossbow, you won’t feel like it’s a powerful crossbow. To be honest, the crossbow does look kind of cheap. But it’s not poorly made. It isn’t like a toy either.

112 ft-lbs of kinetic energy is more than enough for hunters. It’s enough to slay even the biggest of the deers.

Speed

Speed, momentum, and violence, are the necessary parts of a crossbow. No, I am not encouraging violence by any means. It’s a joke. Anyway, the speed of the Matrix 380 is 380 FPS. What a surprise! Who would have thought, right?

Failed attempt as a stand-up comedian aside, 380 FPS is nothing to joke about. You combine that with the 112 ft-lbs of kinetic energy, you have a killing machine in your hands.

Draw Weight

Like always, the draw weight on a recurve crossbow is high. The draw weight on Excalibur Matrix 380 is 260 lbs. Compared to other Excalibur crossbows, I will say this is quite acceptable.

You can always cut down that weight by half using the included rope cocker. Which you should use. That’s why the draw weight of this crossbow is not a concerning matter.

Noise And Vibration

Noise and vibration are part of a crossbow. A crossbow can embrace them or find a solution to mitigate them. Which is what Excalibur is best at. Making their crossbows deadly silent.

The Matrix 380 is nearly soundless. The vibration feedback from each shot is not that concerning either. The limb suppressor on this crossbow does wonder. You will enjoy your time with this crossbow that’s for sure.

Accuracy

As it’s a mid-range crossbow, the accuracy is always questionable. We both know recurve crossbows aren’t known for their range. For the ranged purpose, we have compound crossbows.

With the help of the included scope, the Matrix 380 can fire pretty accurately for over 60-70 yards. Which is not bad. Considering how affordable this crossbow is.

Pros

  • Durable.
  • Lightweight and compact.
  • 380 FPS.
  • 112 ft-lbs of kinetic energy.
  • High accuracy.
  • The design aesthetic is top-notch.

Cons

  • The illumination on the scope is not good.

Summary
