Tenpoint Nitro XRT Review: Dominated All Of Its Competition!

Did you ever wonder why crossbows can’t fire at 500 FPS? I do that all the time. We already hit that mark with the Ravin R500E. The only crossbow that can hit the 500 FPS mark. But this is not the Ravin R500E review. We won’t be talking about Ravin at all. Well, maybe a bit. But that’s for conversation.

TenPoint Nitro XRT is one of the most powerful and the most powerful crossbow TenPoint ever made. What TenPoint did is something that you can’t easily achieve. Let’s talk about all those in this Nitro XRT review.

Tenpoint Nitro XRT: Outlook

Tenpoint Nitro XRT

Specifications | Speed: 470 FPS; Kinetic Energy: 182 ft.lbs; Power Stroke: 16.5 Inches; Draw Weight: 225 LBS; Axle To Axle: 7 / 12.5 Inches; Length: 30.7 Inches; Weight: 7.4 LBS.

Build Quality

Before we start the review, let’s make one thing clear. Nitro XRT is not a cheap crossbow. It’s one of the most expensive crossbows on the market. You can expect the best materials used here. The whole crossbow speaks of quality. Props to the designers for making such a nice-looking crossbow. But, the design has nothing to do with the build quality.

Even though the crossbow didn’t use any carbon fiber, the build quality is still durable. If you decide to do a drop test, it might put some scratches on the bow, but it won’t bend to break the bow.

This crossbow is quite big. The length of the crossbow is 30.7″. Compared to the length, the width of the crossbow is narrow. A narrow crossbow gives you more freedom to work with. You can easily tilt the crossbow to use and squeeze past any tree.

The axle-to-axle width of the crossbow while cocked is 7″ and while uncocked is 12.5″. Not bad at all. It’s not the most compact crossbow on the market. But it’s up there. The synthetic stock of the Nitro XRT is completely adjustable. You can move it around and find the optimal spot that fits your shooting style. Adjustable stocks are necessary for short shooters and female shooters.

Power

When I was saying it’s the most powerful crossbow TenPoint ever made, I wasn’t lying. TenPoint Nitro XRT is capable of generating a whopping 182 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. That’s right! You didn’t read it wrong. 182 ft-lbs! What an incredible feat to have! It’s way higher than the Ravin R20 and Ravin R29. It sweeps the floor with every other competitor on the market.

Imagine the things you can do with so much power. With this much power, the responsibility is also higher. You will have a hard time controlling the recoil of the bow. If you are using a crossbow for the very first time, I highly recommend don’t use this. It’s too addictive and too powerful for any beginner.

Once you start tasting the power of this crossbow honestly, there is no going back. It’s a rabbit hole that will keep sucking you towards the center. And guess what? It’s a fun rabbit hole from where you won’t want to get out of ever.

Speed

At the beginning of the review, I briefly mentioned the speed of the crossbow. TenPoint Nitro XRt is capable of firing arrows at an unmatched 470 FPS. We are just shy of the 500 FPS glorious mark. Still, 470 FPS is by no means a small number.

Only a handful number of crossbows are capable of pulling this feat. TenPoint Vapor RS470 is also capable of firing at 470 FPS. No hunter at your competition stands a chance against you. Even the biggest of the prey will look like a tiny deer in front of the might of the Nitro XRT.

Draw Weight

You don’t even need to worry about it. The crossbow comes with ACUdraw Pro installed. Only one version of the crossbow is available and you will get the ACUdraw pro silent cocker no matter what. With the help of that cocking device, even a child can load the Nitro XRT. The draw weight is less than 10 lbs!

Trigger

Like all other flagships of TenPoint, TenPoint Nitro XRT uses the T5 trigger. An auto-disengage safety trigger made for hunting. With the pistol-like grip and flared foregrip, you will feel like operating a rifle. It’s quite enjoyable. I love how crossbows tend to give you the natural feeling of a rifle. As most of you have used a rifle before, you know what I am talking about.

Noise

The Nitro XRT is virtually noiseless. The sound dampeners did an excellent job. If you wax the flight track regularly, besides the string whooshing, you won’t notice any audible loud trigger. Deers and other targets won’t hear your crossbow triggering. What an incredible advantage to have while hunting!

Evo-X Marksman Scope

The Evo-X marksman scope is one of the best crossbow scopes on the market. With the help of this scope, you can achieve targets from quite far away. Crossbows aren’t known for their long-range target shooting capabilities. But the Nitro XRT paired with the Evo-X can do wonders.

Tenpoint Nitro XRT Review Summary

If it wasn’t for that price tag, this could have been the most-sold crossbow of all time. I am not even kidding while writing that statement. TenPoint Nitro XRT is one of the best crossbows on the market. It dominated all of its competition with ease. The crossbow is durable enough to last you a lifetime. That build quality and the incredible after-sales service you will get from TenPoint is something else.

If you can overcome the fear of that price tag and pull the trigger. Rest assured, even your heritage will use this crossbow. And thank you for being an awesome guardian. One thing that I would like to mention before we end this TenPoint Nitro XRT review, is don’t give this crossbow to a newbie. He will feel overwhelmed. It’s quite addictive.

That was a long one! I hope you found the review you were looking for. If I can help you, I am happy about that. If you want to ask something regarding the crossbow or anything, just shoot them in the comments below. Until we meet again, stay safe and keep chasing.
