Vortex Strike Eagle Review: Is That Series Still Worthy in 2023!

So, you are looking to buy a new scope for your rifle? What if it is Vortex Strike Eagle! If the strike eagle series! then, Look no further & without breaking the bank with our vortex strike eagle review.

Scopes are magnificent little products that enhance the viewing capability of a human eye through a piece of glass. In other words, magnification glass but not for your glasses but for your gun.

Vortex has a great reputation for providing one of the best glass in budget-oriented scopes. They didn’t leave out the strike eagle on this one. It packs the best glass in a mid-range variable scope.

Short Note- In this blog, we are gonna talk about 3 styles of vortex strike eagle scope.

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6X24: Outlooks

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24

Specifications | Magnification: 1 – 6x; Objective Lens: 24 mm; Eye Relief: 3.5 Inches; Tube Diameter: 30 mm; Linear FOV @100 yds: 116.5 – 19.2 ft; Length: 10.5 Inches; Weight: 17.6 Oz.

Build Quality

It’s not that heavy. Its 30mm single tube provides enough strength and durability alongside internal adjustment that you will need a scope if you are willing to use it for a long time.

It also improves the visuals, optimal accuracy even in windy condition. Oh and yeah it’s also waterproof also anti-fog coated, so you will get the best performance while you hunt down your prey in a wild jungle or some desert.

Magnification turret is placed in a quite optimal place that won’t block your scope covers by any means. The turret is quite sturdy it going to take a little force and getting used to but a sturdy turret which won’t move with your recoil pattern is a good thing don’t you think! However, the whole package weights around 2.8pounds with shipping box.

Magnification/ Range

It’s an under $300 scope with magnification range 1-6. It’s 10.5 inches long so perfect for a hunting rifle or a gun with bullet drop between 600 yards.

The range of the scope delivers what it claims to deliver. With 1x setting you will feel zero to no distortion whatsoever. As you crank up the turret and opt for 6x to rip some target in the distance you will gradually see some distortion at the end of the scope which won’t hinder with your target till 250-300 so yards.

But if you decide to hit over 500+ yards you will have a hard time. But to be fair the scope wasn’t meant to be used for over 500 yards targets.

Like I mentioned earlier the turrets are quite sturdy so you won’t be able to change the range in the fly. But once you get used to it, it won’t bother you. Besides hunting rifle scopes weren’t meant to be change distance on the fly anyway.

At max capped turret you will get about 140 MOA with ½ MOA clicks in both elevation and windage. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot but trust me you won’t need more than that in a mid-range scope. By using the BDC for enhanced range you can overcome that issue.

BDC MOA Reticle

The scope comes with a BDC MOA reticle, for you to grasp the subtension detail of the scope we are going to add a chart right below here:

BDC MOA Reticle

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6X24 Review Summary

We really like the 1-6×24 Vortex strike eagle! We think it’s the best budget scope your money can get you. It’s worth every penny and highly recommended. Whether you are a beginner or veteran you will enjoy the 1-6 regardless.

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8X24: Outlooks

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24

Specifications | Magnification: 1 – 8x; Objective Lens: 24 mm; Eye Relief: 3.5 Inches; Tube Diameter: 30 mm; Linear FOV @100 yds: 116.6 – 14.4 ft; Length: 10 Inches; Weight: 16.5 Oz.

Build Quality

Just like it’s smaller brother it also has multicoating over aircraft-grade aluminum. It’s built like a tank. You can take that statement quite literally because it is built that strong. It’s actually quite similar to its smaller brother in terms of size and height.

Range & Glass Details

If the name already didn’t give it away the maximum range of this scope is 800yards. It has an AR-BDC reticle which has bullet drop compensator. The scope is ingrained between 2 glass for durability purpose. The reticle illuminates. It turns red when the brightness is turned up.

The reticle is clearly visible even with lowest brightness setting, so if you plan on saving that massive 10,000h battery for longer service you really don’t need to crank up the brightness unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Performance

It caps out at 100 parallax and maximum 800 yards of range. But that fixed parallax isn’t slowing it down in its overall performance which is the only thing you are after right?

The scope is perfect for AR-15 just get a 30mm mount and rock with it. It was mainly targeted for hunters and 3-gunners but you also can use it for competition or target practicing.

The distortion while zooming in or out isn’t that much so you get plenty of viewing capability. One thing is the 3.5 inches of eye relief actually might be an issue for some people but user reviews says it really isn’t.

Just like its younger brother, it is also easy to use and easy to learn everything about it. The illuminated reticle feels like a godsend. So we talked about the excellent build quality and glass alongside range. Now let us continue to the overall performance and why it’s a beast.

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8X24 Review Summary

Our final verdict on the scope is if you have 500$ to spend for a scope and its mount we wholeheartedly suggest the vortex strike eagle 1-8×24. For the price-point, if you buy the vortex strike eagle 1-8×24 you seriously can’t go wrong. This one is definitely one of the best $500 rifle scopes.

Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24X50: Outlooks

Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24x50

Specifications | Magnification: 4 – 24x; Objective Lens: 50 mm; Eye Relief: 3.5 Inches; Tube Diameter: 30 mm; Linear FOV @100 yds: 26.2 – 4.3 ft; Length: 14.9 Inches; Weight: 25.6 Oz.

Build Quality

Here comes the bigger brother, quite literally I meant. It’s big in size than the rest bigger and it’s a long-range scope.

Just like the original its also built as a tank with the same aircraft-grade aluminum. The glass is multicoated for better performance and more durability. It’s really not that heavy when you think about the size and build quality. It is 25.6 oz I would say you can live with that if you think about all the thing it’s offering for its price. The weight shouldn’t be an issue.

Reticle & Glass Details

It’s a second focal plane based reticle which shouldn’t be an issue considering the price you are paying. You can use the reticles subtension to figure out the range, wind drift and holdover to take the most accurate shot.

The reticle lights up and has an 11 brightness adjuster. The parallax is 20 yards to infinite so you don’t have to stuck on 100 yards of parallax like its smaller brothers. They use EBR-4 MOA to give you the most accurate reticle read and performance.

Details Of The Scope

Just like the original 1-6x vortex strike eagle it too has great multi-coated glass for great efficiency and field of vision.

The scope isn’t for a regular AR its mainly aimed towards bolt action rifles, but you can use it in guns like .308 AR without any issue. The lens is bigger than the rest of the strike eagle series, its 50mm tube gives you a wide view of the target.

Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24X50 Review Summary

If you are determined to get into the long-range shooting scenario or perhaps you already own a bolt action rifle and looking for a long-range scope that won’t cost you a fortune, then it’s exactly the scope you are looking for. It offers a lot for 400$ you seriously can’t get any better in this price range.

No This Is Not A Paid Review

Well you might think we only shared the good things about those scope “pssh what a biased review” Now, now hold on, before you jump off the page it’s not biased or paid review for clarification. The name suggests that we are reviewing the vortex strike eagle. It doesn’t says vortex strike eagle vs this vs that.

Before we part way I just want to say a few words. I didn’t mention any other competitors at the price point because I don’t think they have enough to beat the strike eagle in its turf.

It’s not the best scope in the world but it’s certainly is one of the if not the best. The 3 brothers offers a lot of for there dedicated price range. So yes we wholeheartedly recommend the vortex strike eagle.

You won’t go wrong no matter which one you chose. But I think it should be clear by our vortex strike eagle review that which one suits your gun or preference or perhaps we interested you into a whole new genre like for example, you might be interested in long-range target shooting now who knows.
