Killer Instinct Burner 415 Review: Best For Hunting & Target Shooting!

What do you need a crossbow for? Hunting? Target Practicing? Both? A crossbow is capable of doing both of those tasks. Each year a lot of new people enter the crossbow scene, even though crossbows don’t have an infinite collection like rifles. We still have a fair share of crossbows in our arsenal.

Killer Instinct has a killer reputation on the market. No, I am not ashamed of making that pun. Moving on. By reading the title you already know that you are reading the Killer Instinct Burner 415 review. What are we waiting for? Let’s get this party started –

Killer Instinct Burner 415: Outlooks

Killer Instinct Burner 415

Specifications | Speed: 415 FPS; Kinetic Energy: 141 ft.lbs; Power Stroke: 14.5 Inches; Draw Weight: 220 LBS; Axle To Axle: 14.75 / 18.75 Inches; Length: 34.5 – 37 Inches; Weight: 6.7 LBS.

Build Quality

The build quality of a crossbow plays a big role in decision-making. Killer Instinct Burner 415 is not an expensive crossbow. It’s on the lower end of the market. Props to Killer Instinct for sticking to their reputation. It’s not that hard to cheap out on the build quality and increase the performance of a crossbow. Killer Instinct maintained its classy build quality even with the Burner 415.

Design is a subjective matter. What I liked about the design might not interest you at all. The grey finish on the black rail and the black cams. It highlights the crossbow a lot more than usual camo finishes.

The foregrip of the Burner 415 is completely adjustable. You have complete freedom to use that the way you want. This is not a compact crossbow. You shouldn’t expect a compact crossbow in this price range.

Even though the Burner 415 is not a compact crossbow, it’s super lightweight. The weight of the naked bow is only 6.7 lbs. That’s lower than most of its competition on the market.

Power

Usually, cheap crossbows aren’t that powerful. At least, that’s what the people on the internet will tell you. That’s not entirely true. Killer Instinct Burner 415 is a powerful crossbow. It can generate 141 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. It’s way higher than any competition on the market.

To put it in context, the TenPoint Viper S400 is a fairly high-end crossbow. The power of that crossbow is 135 ft-lbs. Don’t get me wrong, there is no way Burner 415 is beating the Viper. I just mentioned to put the power of the Burner in context.

Speed

If you read the name, you already know the Burner is capable of firing arrows at up to 415 FPs. 400 FPS in this range is rare. It’s one of the best crossbows with 415 FPS on the market.

Killer Instinct Burner is capable of firing the stock arrows at over 400 FPS of speed consistently. With this much power and speed, you can easily do any big-game hunting.

Draw Weight

With this much power and speed, the crossbow has to have a higher draw weight, right? Yes, you are right. The draw weight is higher than most other crossbows on the market. The draw weight of the Burner 415 is 220 lbs.

Sadly you won’t be getting any cranking aid with the crossbow. Let’s be real, cranking aid costs half of the money of this crossbow. But you will get a rope cocker inside the package. Using that you can cut down the draw weight by half.

Noise & Vibration

While hunting, you want to be as stealthy as possible. To make that happen, you will need to wear a camo dress and make sure you are using a silent device for hunting.

Burner 415 comes with a complete noise-suppressing kit. The kit includes string and cam dampeners. Together they almost eliminate the noise from the crossbow. If you install those on the crossbow, the vibration of the crossbow will be reduced by a lot.

Scope

Killer Instinct Burner 415 comes with the usual 4×32 IR scope. It performs fairly well. Even though it struggles sometimes to keep up with the high speed of the crossbow. For a free scope, it gets the passing mark.

Pros

  • Good build quality.
  • 415 FPS (one of the fastest crossbows on the market at this price point).
  • Deadly silent.
  • Powerful.
  • Lightweight and easy to handle.
  • Adjustable foregrip.

Cons

  • You need to purchase a shoulder ring separately for the crossbow.
  • You need the DSC (dead silent crank) if you have back problems or struggle to cock a high-draw-weight crossbow.

Killer Instinct Burner 415 Review Summary

Killer Instinct Burner 415 is one of the best 415 FPS crossbows on the market. It has its fair share of cons. But the advantages of having this crossbow outweigh the cons of it by miles.
