Steiner T5Xi Review: 5-25X56mm Rifle Scope

Steiner is a Germany based company. They specialize in top-end rifle scope manufacturing. Their scopes are quite costly. But to be fair they are worth the money you are investing. If you are someone looking for a high-end rifle scope then you are at the right place.

Build Quality

As you can see from the specifications chart the T5Xi scope is submersible. Which begs for a great housing. The housing is made out of aluminum that’s for sure.

But there is no official confirmation from Steiner about the quality of that aluminum. We are pretty sure it’s pretty close to aircraft-grade aluminum.

The scope is waterproof and also shockproof.

This is Submersible which means you won’t have any issue using the scope even under heavy rain.

The main tube diameter of Steiner T5Xi 5-25×56 is 34mm. It’s a little larger than typical 1″ tube. Just to be on the safer side you should buy some separate mounts that fit this scope.

Optics Quality

You are paying a premium price for the scope so obviously, you want a premium scope. Steiner didn’t disappoint here.

Steiner is well known to provide one of the best optics for rifle scopes.

The T5Xi is waterproof and alongside that, the scope is also fog proof. So it’s confirmed that Steiner used some kind of nitrogen purging inside the T5Xi.

The lenses are multi-coated. Steiner is known for grinding and polishing their glasses to perfection. No exception here.

The crystal clear and vivid images that you see through the scope is the proof of it. Even at max zoom, there is little to no distortion in the lens.

Steiner did an excellent job on the lens. The scope also has to lock the diopter mechanism. That means your lenses won’t move from mere shock or drop.

Magnification

We talked about the zooming performance in the optics quality section. But why we are talking about it separately because the magnification ring deserves some appreciation.

The experience of zooming through the scope is 10/10. The magnification ring is angled, tapered and all metal. In total, the experience is a blast.

Reticle

The reticle on Steiner T5Xi 5-25×56 is an SCR reticle. It’s also illuminated. The reticle is also on FFP (First Focal Plane). Which means the reticle zooms when you zoom in the scope. The scope uses a CR2450 battery to powerup the illuminated reticle.

The reticle has extended illumination area which helps you to aim better and see better in low light & it has an adjustable 11 brightness level. The reticle might come to personal preference but in our opinion does an excellent job.

Turrets

One of the most aesthetically pleasing parts of Steiner T5Xi. The reason for saying that is, the turrets of T5Xi is low profiled.

If you are a fan of low profile turrets you are going to love them. Not only they are low profile but they are also made out of metal. No, they won’t catch rust.

The turrets also have a feature called hard stopping at zero. They are resettable. The accuracy of windage and elevation is quite high. They are really easy to adjust and once you adjusted them they are not moving from that place.

Pros

  • Excellent build & lens quality.
  • FFP (first focal plane) reticle.
  • The zooming experience is magnificent.
  • Nitrogen purged for fog proofing also shockproof.
  • Illuminated and adjustable brightness SCR reticle.
  • Low-profile turret with resettable feature and hard stop zero.
  • Lifetime heritage warranty.

Pros

  • Quality control issue but as far as we know it was dealt with.
  • A little bit on the pricey side.

Steiner T5XI 5-25X56 Review Summary

If you are someone who can afford it you absolutely should buy it. We gave you more than enough reason to do so.

We are aware of some bad ratings about the scopes but honestly, they are just unlucky. The scope comes with a lifetime heritage warranty. You won’t be disappointed with the purchase.
