Sightmark Latitude is a compact military tactical spotting scope. Tactical scopes are not that different than regular spotting scopes. The key difference on a tactical scope is the housing style and the reticle. That’s right, tactical spotting scopes come with a reticle to help you read the mil adjustment that you need while shooting. Now that you know what a tactical scope is and how you can be benefited from it. Let’s start the Sightmark Latitude 20-60×80 XD review.

One thing that you can absolutely be sure about tactical scope is, they won’t disappoint you in terms of build quality. In that department, they will always reign supreme over the others. Military people are using these scopes. If the build quality is not up to their expectations, then you know they won’t get the pass mark.
The housing is constructed from durable metal. It’s stainless steel and sturdy. Over the housing, you will notice a small layer of rubber coating. This layer protects the scope from the initial drop impact and scratches.
The inside of the scope is nitrogen-filled. Nitrogen-filling makes the scope completely immune to fog and moisture. To prevent moisture and any drops of water, Latitude has an IP67 rating. You can submerge the scope underwater without any issue.
The lenses of Latitude are quite unique. They use ED glasses to make the lens out of. ED stands for extra-low dispersion. An excellent glass material to make lenses out of. The low-light performance of the ED glass is excellent. Probably the best in the market.
The ED glass is advanced fully multi-coated. It went under several layers of anti-glare coatings. If the lens doesn’t glare and lets the light pass through. Your prism will have more lights to work with and transmit the light directly on to your eye. Giving you a sharp and color accurate image.
The prism inside the housing is a Porro prism. Porro prism with ED glass is quite a good combination. The picture you will see will be bright as day. Sightmark didn’t use a regular coating on the prism. They went for an aluminum prism coating. This coating brightens up the scope by a lot. Increasing the low-light capability and making this an excellent allrounder scope.
The magnification of this scope is your standard 20-60x magnification. What makes it special is the prism and the ED glass. You already know why they are the best option for this scope.
One thing that any hunter or shooter hates is motion blur. When you magnify the scope of the wheel is not smooth and the transition is not smooth. You will feel raging like the Hulk.
Thankfully, I don’t need to take out my Hulkbuster to stop you. The transition of this scope is smooth and you won’t notice any sort of distortion at max magnification. For tactical use or hunting use, the magnification of this scope won’t let you down. The eyepiece is a straight design one.
One of the biggest parts of a tactical scope is the reticle. The reticle of a tactical spotting scope will always be different than your riflescope. Even though the blueprint is almost the same. The final picture is different. Sightmark Latitude uses a mil-radian reticle. The reticle is in the first focal plane.
When you increase the magnification of the scope, the reticle will zoom in alongside. Making it easier to hit the bullseye. Well with a spotting scope you won’t be hitting the bullseye, rather have the accurate bullet drop compensation, windage and elevation to work with. This reticle is perfect for long-range shooting and hunting.
