Barnett Raptor Pro Str Vs Whitetail Pro Str: Are They Same You Think?

Barnett is a well-known brand in the crossbow industry. They have been providing great crossbows to the community for a long time now.

Barnett Raptor Pro Str vs Whitetail Pro Str. They have a lot in common. Way too much that you won’t be able to tell the difference just from specs shit alone.

You will need to dive deep into this article to find the flaws and the difference between the two. Both of them are excellent crossbows for the price. But you are not going to buy both of them.

Barnett Raptor Pro Str Crossbow Package

Barnett Raptor Pro Str is one of the fastest crossbows from Barnett. Even though it’s not as high-end as Barnett Predator. It still packs some heavy configuration. Don’t get me wrong the crossbow is pretty light weighing 6.9 lbs. For a crossbow made out of fiberglass, the crossbow is pretty strong and durable.

The selling point of this crossbow is packing the same 400 FPS and undercutting the Whitetail Pro Str by more than 50$. A lot of people won’t dive deep into the difference and see the highlighted specifications only. To them, they can’t notice the difference between the two.

Both of their highlights is their high power and speed. Using a 380-grain bolt both of the crossbows are capable of firing at 400 FPS. The aesthetic design of this crossbow is excellent. The Realtree camo is a fine-looking color pattern.

The crossbow is pretty compact and maneuverable. 36.5 inches long and 20 inches wide (uncocked). The crossbow may not be able to enter the narrowest area. But you can control the crossbow even while leaning. The dry weight of the crossbow isn’t that high either.

The quiver is side-mounted, this is an excellent feature in my opinion. The quiver won’t interfere with your performance. There is a trigger safety. Rail is one of my favorites. CNC machined aluminum Picatinny rail. You can attach any scope as long as it supports Picatinny rail.

Now some of the cons of this crossbow. The crossbow is quite long. The included scope magnification is fixed. So, if you buy this crossbow the first priority of you should be upgrading to a better scope.

Barnett Whitetail Pro Str Crossbow Package

Another excellent crossbow from Barnett. The Whitetail Pro Str is a big brother to the Raptor Pro Str in a lot of ways. This is priced a little bit higher than the Raptor Pro. This one also came before the Raptor Pro. But in a lot of terms, they are twins.

Both of their lengths are 36.5 inches and axle-to-axle width is 17.75 inches. Both of their dry weight is 6.9 lbs. Then why is there a price difference? Frankly speaking, I don’t know.

Maybe the reason is, a lot of people complained this variant had issues with the rope cocking mechanism. Which they fixed in the Raptor Pro. Honestly, I didn’t find any issues with the rope cocking mechanism. This hints that there might have been quality issues. But Barnett is really careful with their warranty and you will get an excellent response from them.

Barnett Raptor Or Whitetail! Which One To Take?

Both of these crossbows are under $700. Both of these crossbows share the same parent specification & their cons are also similar. The fixed 4x32mm scope is not that good. The rope cocking mechanism isn’t the best. The safety trigger method and TriggerTech gives an excellent archery experience.

If you are someone that prefers to have the newer tech then you should go with the Raptor Pro Str. It’s even cheaper than the Whitetail.

Barnett Raptor Pro Str vs Whitetail Pro Str Summary

Virtually and on the field both of them performed similarly. There isn’t any way of saying this one is the best you should go for this one. This can be called a marketing gimmick as well. That’s why if you want you can go for the cheaper option without any issue. But remember to upgrade the scope.
