Quality

Aimpoint T2: The Lens used on T2 is made out of fully multi-coated glass. It’s a type of HD glass that can work the night as well. You can see there is night vision mode present on this sight as well. While it won’t make your entire sight perform like a nocturnal animal, it surely will make your sight help you hit the targets in pitch black dark.

The lens is fog and waterproof as well. As the sight is shockproof, the reticle won’t move around from drops or from recoil.

Aimpoint Comp M5: From a price-point perspective, Comp M5 puts up a huge value argument. The lens on this sight is also fully multi-coated. It’s scratch-resistant as well. As the sight is shockproof, the reticle won’t move around like you see in some cheap sights.

Overall, quality-wise, this is one of the best Comp series sight on the market.

Durability

Aimpoint T2: Both of these sights are made by Aimpoint and both of them are made from aluminum. One thing I can guarantee; these sights are built like tanks. You can watch or read many reviews of these sights and you will see there are no complaints regarding the sight build quality at all. If there is some anodization error or scratches, Aimpoint will take care of that for you.

If there are any issues, then Aimpoint will be more than happy to help you with their service.

Comp M5: Comp M5 is also made out of aluminum. Aimpoint always uses high-grade aluminum that is used to make aircraft. Anodization is also on point. There is slight to no error at all. Semi-matte finish also looks great.

There is nothing more to add about the durability. I am sure it will outlive the warranty period.

Performance

Aimpoint T2: Performance-wise, T2 is in a league of its own. You can compare it against many other sights. Of course, you can compare it against M5 as well. But T2 probably stretches ahead of M5 as well. Pint point of the accuracy of this sight is praiseworthy. Of course, you can use this sight during the night as well. Night vision brightness is quite visible as well.

Comp M5: Comp series is not a new name. They have been part of the industry for a while now. While Comp M1 had some severe issues, the later variants fixed all of them. You can say M5 is one of the best if not the best Comp M series sight ever made. Of course, it doesn’t lag behind T2 when it comes to short-range performance.

The 100-yard range fight has been intense for a while now, a lot of other brands have decided to join this battle, and a lot of them are offering great offers for cheap prices.
The bottom line is, that M5 performs as well as you expect it to. There is no delay, blur, or windage issues regarding this sight at all.

Size

Aimpoint T2: T2 is a much smaller sight than Comp M5. Total dimension of T2 is 79 x 46 x 48 mm. It’s quite small for a sight like this. Usually, reflex red dot sights are much bigger. Almost goes head-to-head against a 3x scope.

If you are looking for a smaller one, this is the one to take.

Comp M5: M5 is a much bigger sight. It’s not surprising. After all, that weight has to go somewhere. Dimension of M5 is 85 x 54 x 72 mm. You can see just how big this sight is compared to T2. Does this sight make a big difference? Sure, it does. But does it matter to you? I can’t answer that for you.

But I can give you an insight into the weight distribution. It’s nice and you won’t feel like carrying extra weights on your gun. The weight is noticeable, of course. It’s not a feather. But the gun won’t feel much heavier than it already is.

Weight

Aimpoint T2: This is one of the key parts where T2 beats the Comp M5 by a large margin. The weight of T2 is only 130 grams. That’s much lighter than what M5 weighs. Weight difference gives a huge advantage and edge over the M5.

The weight balance of this sight is quite nice. It doesn’t feel front or back heavy at all.

Comp M5: The weight of M5 is 238 grams. The weight difference between the two sights here is over 100 grams. That’s more than noticeable. You can feel the different weights on hand or top of a gun.

But, Aimpoint did a good job of making the sight well-balanced. Despite using a single AAA battery, the weight balance doesn’t feel back heavy.
Aimpoint deserves some pat on the back for finding the middle ground.

If you are looking for the lightest between the two, go for T5. Both are balanced quite nicely and weigh just enough. Sure, you will notice the difference, but that’s not the end of the world.

Summary

Aimpoint T2 vs Comp M5 has been a treat to watch. They both perform so well for the money. It’s kind of hard to not recommend either of them. But you are here to choose only one.

In my opinion, Aimpoint T2 offers better value, weight, and size compared to M5. Don’t get me wrong, Comp M5 is still such a great sight. But T2 is just slightly better.
