Holosun HS510C Problems, Things To Be Aware Of!

The budget market for red dot sights has been on fire recently. Thanks to Holosun, a lot of companies needed to put more effort into the budget range. The 510C is a Chinese-manufactured sight that has been a go-to option for a ton of SMG and AR shooters.

While the 510C from Holosun is easily one of the best AK 47 sights on the market, it’s not without issues. The topic for today is Holosun 510c Problems. Trying to identify whether all of the praise it gets from reviews is true or not. Let’s find out.

Biggest Problems With The HS510C

There are quite a few problems with the 510c. Some are major and some aren’t. Here are the problems that might bother you while using the optic.

Blinking Reticle

It’s not a common sight problem but I have seen and heard shooters complain about the reticle of their sight. Very often, it starts to blink randomly and doesn’t stop until you turn off the sight.

The common fix for this problem is to check the battery. See if it’s dead or not and see if the battery is causing you the issue. If changing the battery solves your problems, then you are good to go. If it doesn’t, well tough luck. Time to seek warranty.

Dimming Reticle

Very few shooters have complained their sight reticle dims down after shooting a few rounds. If you are someone that faced that issue, don’t worry the fix is quite simple. This also happens due to the battery.

But this time, it’s not because the battery is low. Rather, check the contact of the battery with your optic. If it’s not tightly sealed, then it will move around when you shoot. And if the battery contact becomes loose, then it will not deliver enough power.

But if your contact is good and yet the brightness dims down automatically, then your optic is defective and you will need to seek a manufacturer’s warranty.

Shake To Wake Is Not Working

Unlike most other sights on the same budget, the Holosun 510c features a shake-to-wake sensor that turns on when it senses a bit of movement and turns off when it doesn’t sense movement for a while.

Some shooters have claimed that their optic isn’t turning on even if they are shaking it vigorously or just running around and practicing targets. This is a power-related issue and often gets fixed by making proper contact with the battery or just changing it.

But if you are unfortunate enough to face this issue and all the battery-related solutions don’t work for you, then you will need to seek the help of the manufacturer, unfortunately.

NVD

Night vision compatibility aka NVD is a term that we use to see if the red dot you are using is compatible with external night vision devices. The Holosun 510c comes with 12 adjustable brightness settings with 2-night vision settings.

The night vision settings on the optic often stop working or just don’t get bright enough to the point where you can consider it night vision compatible. Unfortunately, you won’t get full performance if you use a PVS-14 night vision device.

There is no fix for this besides changing it from the manufacturer.

Dead Optic

A couple of beginners have mentioned in the past that their optic refuses to turn on even though they have properly installed, the battery contact is good and the battery itself is a brand new one as well. Yet, their optic refuses to turn on.

This happens when the optic is dead on arrival. If the battery installation and everything related to it is good and yet it doesn’t turn on, you have a faulty optic on your hand.

Where Are Holosun Optics Made?

Just like I mentioned earlier, the Holosun Optics are indeed made in China. Despite being a Chinese manufacturer, the brand has been operating in the USA for a long time now and they provide really good after-sales service in the USA as well. Rest assured, you are not getting duped here or getting a subpar product.

Conclusion

Most of the problems mentioned here can be fixed by a simple battery replacement and making sure the battery contract is good. Yet, these problems are somewhat massive for a beginner with no expertise and never been handed an optic before.

Yet, this is a ridiculously good optic that provides incredible value to both beginners and newbies alike.

Sure, Holosun 510c problems won’t disappear magically. But you are not getting an optic without a warranty or from a manufacturer that doesn’t want to help you. Holosun will always help you regardless of where you buy their optics from. As long as you don’t void their warranty, you are good.

Thanks for reading as always but I have said enough for today. Will see you guys on the next one. Take care.
