Yet, if your unit has some issues or defects, you can apply for a replacement warranty at any given time. The housing is constructed from two or more mixed materials. It’s one of the few rangefinders that doesn’t require an additional case as safety. Sure, it won’t hurt you to have a case lying around. But that’s not mandatory.
When it comes to durability, Vortex has the upper hand. It’s constructed for maximum performance and durability. Paired with the incredible lens that Vortex makes, it easily takes the dove here.
Performance
Ranger 1800: As the name suggests, the maximum range of this rangefinder is 1800 yards. You can fetch information from reflective targets beyond 1800 yards. But the marketed range is 1800 yards. 1800 yards is no joke. It can cover more terrain than you can go through in a single day. It will also help you shoot your target better from a long way.
To get the best performance and accurate reading out of this rangefinder, it’s better to target a reflective target. That will provide the best result.
Kilo 2200: Well, the name says it all. The effective range of this rangefinder is 2200 yards. Making it more powerful than Ranger 1800. If you are here to find who has the higher range between Sig kilo 2200 vs Vortex Ranger 1800, you know which one to go for.
The maximum range on reflective targets of this rangefinder is 3400 yards. Making this a monster of a rangefinder.
If range is your main priority, there is no debate to be held. Just take the Kilo and call it a day. It will cover you more range in single sight than you can run in an hour.
Size
Ranger 1800: The objective lens size on this rangefinder is 22mm. That’s fine on a rangefinder. You don’t need a big objective lens on a rangefinder. It gathers enough light and the reflection quite easily and fast. It fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. The switch positioning is in the perfect place as well.
Kilo 2200: It’s nearly identical to the Ranger. If you paint them both the same color and tell your friend to identify which one is which, I can bet they won’t be able to answer it. The objective lens on this one is slightly bigger. Coming at 25mm, it has an advantage over the Ranger. Surprisingly, the size didn’t increase for the bigger objective lens by much.
Well, they both look the same and almost feel the same. The button positioning is quite nice on both of them. It’s nearly impossible to make a decision based on the size alone. I would suggest to consider other selling points as well.
- This Sig Sauer Rangefinder is easy to use and features a 7 x 25 mm monocular with our trademarked SpectraCoat anti-reflection coating for superior light transmission and optical clarity.
Weight
Kilo 2200: Despite having a kilo on the name, it doesn’t weigh a kilogram. Okay, that was a bad pun. Anyway, the weight of Kilo 2200 is 7.5oz with the battery installed. It’s pretty light considering the size of this. You can easily keep it inside your pocket and forget about it.
Ranger 1800: The weight of this rangefinder is 7.7oz. Not exactly a heavyweight champion. The weight difference here is quite minimal and easily negligible. It’s compact and lightweight enough to carry it inside your pocket. Which makes it a great companion to hunters.
It’s funny how similarly both of these look and weigh. Almost on neck to neck when it comes to the weight. Still, Sig Kilo 2200 takes the victory in terms of weight alone. If .2oz makes a huge difference to you that is.
