Best Optics For 300 Blackout – Reviews and Buying Guides w/FAQs

A good gun can make you a good shooter, a good scope will make you a better shooter. Nobody said that, but that’s how I feel. Jokes aside, if you are using a 300 Blackout gun, might as well add a 300 Blackout scope or sight on top of it to make it a very powerful weapon for hunting and target shooting.

.300 AAC better known as 7.62×35mm is a very well-known cartridge for short-range and whitetail-sized animal hunting. The reason why you are here today is to find out the best optics for 300 Blackout. Besides finding some good optics, I will also try to help you understand what makes those sights good and how you should choose the right one for you. Without further ado, let’s start.

Best 300 Blackout Scopes & Optics [Editor’s Pick]

1. Trijicon ACOG 4X 32mm .300 Blackout Scope

ACOG belongs to Trijicon. Their ACOGs are used in military forces and other service-related programs as well. As Trijicon is the only brand that makes ACOG, it’s kind of hard to compare them with anything else on the market. But .300 Blackout can be fired with rifles that support ACOG as well. Implying that I am keeping them as one of my favorites.

The one we have here is the 300 BLK crosshair with dual illumination. As the name suggests, this one was made for rifles that fire .300 Blackout. The ACOG is made out of 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum that you see on 3k USD riflescopes as well. I would go as far as to say it’s one of the best 300 blk optics under $1500 build quality-wise.

The lenses of the optic are fully multi-coated as well. Thanks to that, their performance is remarkable. One thing that you will love about this is the illumination. It features a dual-illuminated reticle. One of the illumination methods is based on tritium optic fiber. One of the oldest methods to illuminate reticles without any battery.

Just from the name alone, you can guess just how well this performs with a 300-blockout firing rifle. If it wasn’t even good, why would I bother putting this on a “best” list? The answer is easy, it’s not only good but the best ACOG for 300 Blackout! That’s why it belongs in a list as such.

What does both eyes open while firing means?

Have you ever used a reflex sight? With unlimited eye relief? The idea behind this is quite the same. While using this, you don’t need to keep one of your eyes closed and focus on the other one, instead you could keep both of your eyes open while firing and still aim scarily accurate.

Is this optic good for hunting?

Generally, ACOGs aren’t meant for hunters. They are meant to be used with service rifles and similar programs. Most states out there won’t even give a permit to use ACOG for hunting. But if your state allows and you want to use this for hunting, you can use it for hunting. But keep your hunting to short-range. It’s not capable of doing mid to long-range hunting.

Where is this optic made in?

I can understand a lot of folks get scared of seeing products made in China. Don’t worry, this product isn’t made in China. It’s designed and made in the USA with imported materials. The materials used in this is high-quality. You will get a lifetime warranty from Trijicon as well.

2. ATN X-Sight-4K 3-14x Pro Edition Rifle Scope

ATN X-Sight-4K 3-14x Pro Edition Rifle Scope

It’s been a while since I featured a night-vision scope on TargetChaser. If you are one of my old readers, you know how much I used to cover night vision optics. They are fascinating, they are mind-blowing, and awesome. When an opportunity arises to put one of these on the list, you bet I’m gonna do it.

ATN is one of the best manufacturers of night vision products. It’s the best night vision riflescope for 300 Blackout. Yes, I’m not exaggerating a single bit. The build quality on this scope is something else (I mean it). While a lot of gen-1 and digital night vision products are made from plastic, ATN uses aluminum as their base.

The is water, fog, and shockproof. Making it a perfect choice for hunters. As you can use it in any weather and lighting condition, the opportunity to use this increases a lot. In terms of build quality alone, there are no complaints regarding this.

This uses a smart ATN Sensor that is capable of recording and viewing footage at 4K resolution. Thus, the name. The eye relief on this is quite generous as well. This was made for both day and night uses.

The transition from day to night usage on this is quite flawless. As it renders all footage digitally, there is no motion blur or chromatic aberration visible on this. If you are a hunter that uses .300 AAC Blackout and find themselves hunting in the dark the most, what are you waiting for? Grab an ATN X-Sight and live life to the fullest.

Is the magnification fixed?

You get a base magnification of 3x and a maximum of 14x. If this seems low to you, ATN also sells the same sight with 5x base magnification and 20x maximum magnification. The downside of the maximum magnification is the lower field of view. But if you require more magnification, by all means, go for the 5-20x.

Is this a good sight for daytime shooting?

While this sight suffers from bipolar disorder and can work overtime for both day and night, this is not the best for daytime usage. I know, it’s excellent performing at both times, but if you are looking for a dedicated optic for 300 AAC, and you only shoot during the day, why not get a riflescope?

Does this come with a mount?

I’m glad you asked. ATN adds a quick detach mount to the package for free. Yeah, the same one that costs 100$, they include that with their X-Sight 4K Pro for free. As if the scope itself wasn’t a good enough deal already.

3. EOTECH XPS2-300 Blk Holographic Weapon Sight

Earlier I mentioned, that 300 Blackout can be used by Service Rifles as well. And we all know service rifles mostly use fixed magnification sights, ACOG, and red dot optics. While you definitely can use a riflescope on them, most don’t do that. Now we have the burning question of what’s the best sight for 300 Blackout?

Well, this is one of them. That’s right, I’m talking about the Holographic sight from EOTech. EOTECH is an industry leader when it comes to making small holographic sights for specific firing ammo and rifles. This one here is made for lovely 300 Blackout only. While it can be used for other rifles and ammo, it’s not the ideal choice for those. Rather let’s stick to 300 blackout optics and talk about this in that tone.

The sight is made out of aluminum. It’s durable, rugged, lightweight, and long-lasting. On top of that, EOTech also offers a good number of warranties with almost no questions asked for return and replacement services. When it comes to the build quality alone, the Eotech is much better than the holographic sight you will find in a similar price range.

The optic features a fully multi-coated lens with a 68 MOA ring and 1 MOA reticle. The optic also has a custom 300 BLK laser etching on the hood. Ballistic drop reticle allows you to zero subsonic or supersonic .300 blackout rounds. You can zero them in the same reticle pattern. For those who were longing for this, your prayers have been answered.

What is the warranty limit on this?

EOTech HWS prestige warranty comes with a 10-year limited warranty. In this warranty period, if your sight suffers from any internal problems, they will either repair it for you or outright replace it for you. Don’t worry, Eotech has a good reputation in customer service.

Is this sight good for hunting?

Yes, it’s good for short-range hunting. As this optic is highly accurate and .300 Blackout shines in short-range shooting, you will not miss a single prey in the short-range area. Even if you are hunting for whitetail or similar-sized animals, it’s a good sight for that.

Can you adjust the brightness of this?

Yes, you can adjust the brightness of the reticle to make it brighter or dimmer. While it’s still not capable of doing night vision stuff, it’s better than nothing.

4. Aimpoint PRO Red Dot Reflex Sight w/QRP2 Mount

Aimpoint Pro is another excellent 300 blackout sight. It’s one of the better ones out there. The job of a red dot is fairly simple. It is supposed to be accurate, help you lock in the target faster, and help you focus on the target better than iron sight. Aimpoint Pro does all of these things in a classy manner.

The sight itself is made out of aluminum. Very durable and lightweight. Housing has no visible issues, and neither does the anodization. This optic is shockproof, waterproof, and fogproof. There is no chance of seeing any internal or external fogging on this sight.

The lens of the optic is fully multi-coated as well. You will have a fun time hunting or target practicing with this sight. As this is a red dot, naturally the red dot here is illuminated. The size of the sight here is 2MOA. Not too small and not too big. It’s not distracting at all either. The red dot illuminates according to your needs. You can control the brightness of the red dot.

The battery life of this is very good. You can use this for years with one single battery that is included in the package. When paired with a gun that shoots .300 Blackout, you won’t be greeted with a jarred reticle. The reticle will stay where it’s supposed to and won’t move around. Hands down, it’s one of the best red dots for 300 Blackout.

Does this sight come with a mount?

The mount is built-in on this sight. You will not need a separate base plate or riser for this to mount on your gun. As long as your gun supports picatinny mounting rails, your gun will support this mount and you can easily detach it from your gun.

Can you add a magnifier to it?

If that’s what you want. Sure, you absolutely can rock a magnifier with this optic. The accuracy of the sight stays the same with a magnifier as well. That’s the neat part in my opinion. You don’t need to reset everything after removing the magnifier. But you should. Cause micro adjustments matter.

Does this come with lens protectors?

Yes, it comes with flip-up lens covers. The lens covers are made out of thermoplastic and they are spring-loaded. They are very durable and rugged. It will protect the precious objective lens and eyepiece of your sight.

5. Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 1-6x24mm SFP Riflescope

Vortex Strike Eagle brings back tons of memories. It was one of the first scopes that I featured on Target Chaser. Back then it was a killer deal. Right now, it’s an even better deal. The Strike Eagle resembles a lot of the American national bird. Named after a great bird Eagle, this is a great mid-range optic for hunters and tact shooters alike.

The Strike Eagle is made out of aluminum. The aluminum is very high quality and durable. The weight of the Strike Eagle is very low as well. This is one of the few Vortex 300 Blackout scopes that is good.

I mean, there aren’t many 300 Blackout Scope by Vortex to begin with. This is water, fog, and shockproof simultaneously.

The lenses are fully multi-coated. We all know Vortex is known for its high-end lenses. Their lenses are so good that many other companies buy lenses from them. The lenses are bright, clear, and accurate. The lens comes in two different reticles and 3 different magnifications. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you can take a higher-magnified or a lower-magnified variant of the Eagle.

Is this scope that good?

If I’m being honest here, it’s one of the best riflescopes you could ever purchase. It’s one of the best scopes for beginners as well. The ease of access to this optic is really good. It’s easy to set up and easy to tune with your rifle. Specially, with a 300 Blackout rifle, it’s much easier.

Does this scope come with mounting rings?

No, it doesn’t come with any sort of mounting rings or plates. Most high-end riflescopes don’t come with mounting rings. The reason is, that the manufacturer doesn’t know what kind of rifles you have and what kind of rails your rifles have. That’s why they make mounting rings supporting those different rails. You can purchase them separately.

Does this scope come with any kind of warranty?

Yes, it comes with a warranty from Vortex. It comes with an unconditional lifetime warranty from Vortex. Makes it a really good investment in terms of longevity.

6. Primary Arms SLX 1-6×24 Gen III SFP Rifle Scope

300 BLK scopes are rare, you know what’s even rare? A scope with the BLK reticle from Primary Arms in a budget price range. Primary Arms SLX is a feature-rich optic made mainly for hunters. While this can do target practice, this is more associated with hunters.

This is made out of 6063 aluminum. The same type of aluminum that you see in much higher-priced riflescopes from various brands. The tuning of this was aimed towards hunters mostly. The entire tube of this is fully purged with nitrogen to make it immune to fog.

The lenses are fully multi-coated. Whether you are hunting or shooting some props in range, you will see the target crystal clear. This is rated for IP67. If you are wondering whether you could use it inside a deep jungle on a rainy day, don’t worry. You can use it any day any weather. While it’s still not compatible with night vision, the scope is still good for low-light conditions.

Does this scope come with lens covers?

Yes, this comes with flip-up lens covers. The lens covers are made out of durable thermoplastic. They are spring-loaded and durable. They will for sure protect your precious lenses from harm’s way. All in all, it’s one of the best budget scopes for 300 Blackout.

Does this scope come with a warranty?

Yes, it comes with a lifetime warranty for manufacturing defects. They will provide a warranty for materials and workmanship errors and normal wear and tear. Rest assured, this is here to serve you for at least half a decade.

Is the reticle on this scope etched?

Yes, it is. All of the Primary Arms scopes feature laser-etched reticles. Both fixed and variable magnification have the same laser-etched reticles.

7. Monstrum G2 1-6×24 First Focal Plane Rifle Scope

Are you looking for the cheapest 300 Blackout scope? Looks like you found the one you have been looking for. That’s right, Monstrum G2 is the cheapest riflescope I recommend for 300 Blackout. It’s well-made with tons of accessories and a good service to back it up.

The material used here is aluminum. The same aluminum that you see in tons of other riflescopes of similar and higher price tags. This has a robust body with no visible errors. The anodization finish of this is quite good as well. Surprisingly, the sealing of this is one of the best in this price range. Making it fog and waterproof. The body of this is also shockproof. Making it an ideal choice for 300 Blackout.

The lenses are fully multi-coated. They are bright, crisp, vivid, and color-accurate.

Despite being budget-friendly, it doesn’t have any chromatic aberration of any sort. While the eye relief is generous, it’s still not unlimited and you shouldn’t treat it as such. There is a dial turret that allows you to control the reticle illumination. The reticle is available in both red and green with multiple levels of settings.

Does this come with mounting rings?

Yes, the package of this scope includes a pair of Picatinny rail mounting rings. If you are using a dovetail rail gun, then you will need to buy a different pair of mounting rings to make it compatible with the gun.

Does this scope have any sunshade?

It does have a sunshade included. It comes with a detachable honeycomb filter sunshade. Also, a set of flip-up lens covers. The lens covers are spring and they are crisp. The spring load action didn’t seem jarred or forced.

What kind of battery do you need to operate a scope like this?

You have to be specific about which optic you are talking about here. As for the Monstrum G2, you will need a 3v CR2032 battery to operate. Without the battery, you cannot turn on the reticle. Keep in mind the green reticle might consume more charge than the red one.

How to Choose The Best Scope For 300 Blackout?

By keeping a couple of things in mind, you can choose the best optic for any given gun. Yes, any guns. What are those? Glad you asked.

Build Quality

The housing of the scope needs to be durable. Otherwise, it won’t last you a good while. If the housing isn’t durable, it can’t last the recoil from a high-end rifle either. Keep in mind while purchasing and you should be all good.

Warranty

Warranty is mandatory. A good product will always come with a good warranty. If the warranty is shady or doesn’t even exist, you shouldn’t put that in your shortlist.

Lens Quality

Lenses are the most important part of a riflescope. The lenses have to be good for me to call it good. If the lenses are mediocre or bad, it’s not good and you shouldn’t consider that. Take something that has good-quality lenses. Save yourself some trouble.
