Do you guys know the Chinese manufacturer called Xiaomi? They have a sub-brand named Redmi, under which they release budget smartphones. Razor is somewhat similar to Redmi. Under the Razor name, you will find riflescopes, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and binoculars. That’s a lot of stuff from a single series. What do I have here for you guys in this article? Well I’ve the Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15×50 review for you guys. That was a long prep talk. Now let’s get down to business.

If you have read a few of my reviews before, you know how important the scope’s build quality is for me. The body of the scope is also called housing/chassis. If the housing is not durable, how can it handle the interior? There are tons of scopes with terrible housing on the market. If you drop them once, the lens either cracks or shifts place.
With the Razor HD LHT, we do not see any of that. Vortex used aircraft-grade aluminum to make the housing of the Razor HD LHT. One of the best materials to use on a riflescope.
The outside of the body has a glossy black finish. There aren’t any rubber armor coating around the body. Riflescopes don’t have armor around them. A rubber coating will add unnecessary weight to the scope. It works fine on a spotting scope because the weight there is not that big of a deal. The lenses of this scope are O-ring sealed. Making the scope 100% waterproof.
As the name suggests, Vortex Razor HD LHT uses HD lenses throughout the scope. The inside of the scope is argon purged to make the lenses fog proof. The HD lenses are fully multi-coated. You won’t see any glares on the scope at all. It will gather enough light to produce bright pictures.
Vortex calls it XR™ Plus coating. It’s a process of fully multi-coating. It reduces all glares from the scope. It also reduces the strain from the glass. Thanks to this coating, the images are brighter and sharper. The 50mm large objective lens gathers plenty of light for the scope to work with.
Vortex also uses ArmoreTek lens coating in their scopes. It’s an exterior coating material. Thanks to this, the exterior lenses become scratchproof. Vortex Uses Optically Indexed Lenses on Razor HD LHT. These lenses are good for removing distortion from the scope. Edge-to-edge clarity eliminates distortion throughout the scope.
This is not a high magnification scope. The max magnification of Razor HD LHT is 15x. With that much magnification, you can quickly shoot medium to long-range.
The accuracy will still depend on the calibration and gun you are using. If we were to nullify the gun and calibration, you could easily hit targets over 500 yards away.
Earlier, we talked about the Optically Indexed Lenses on this scope. Thanks to that, this scope doesn’t suffer from magnification distortion. You won’t notice any motion blur at max magnification. Vortex did an excellent job on this part.
You will find this scope available in two reticles. In today’s Razor HD LHT 3-15×50 review, I have the G4i BDC (MRAD) reticle. It’s a straight forward reticle with some verticle lines under the red dot. Those lines indicate the bullet drop.
If you learn to read those marking, you can easily compensate for the bullet in long-range shots. The reticle of this scope is on the second focal plane. Disappointing, but I don’t mind. It’s a sacrifice worth making.
Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15x50 Review Summary
Vortex Razor HD LHT is an excellent riflescope. There is no denying that fact. Yet, it’s not the most popular option in the series. There is a reason for that. The reason is the price.
It’s not a cheap scope. It comes with a hefty price tag. A price worth paying. You won’t be changing this scope anytime soon. It will pay the value by lasting a long time and help you hunt better.
