Wait a minute! Since when did we start reviewing cars? Don’t worry, this is not the review of Porsche Turbo GT. Frankly speaking, I can’t even afford that car to review. But what I can afford is the TenPoint Turbo GT. It’s a budget-range offering from TenPoint. TenPoint Turbo GT is not a recent crossbow. It came out a few years ago and still going strong. Let’s find out whether the Tenpoint Turbo GT is worth it in 2021 or not via this review –
TenPoint Turbo GT Review: Specs & Outlooks
|Kinetic Energy||107 FP-KE|
|Power Stroke||12.6 Inches|
|Draw Weight||175 Lbs|
The build quality on the Turbo GT is quite good. It uses synthetic material for the buttstock and the foregrip. The flight track, the limbs, and the cams are made out of CNC machined aluminum. TenPoint didn’t use cheap material for this crossbow. To make this crossbow cheaper, they had to cut down some costs. I am glad they didn’t decide to throw the build quality under the bus.
The design of this crossbow is something else. Just like the Porshe Turbo GT, TenPoint Turbo GT is blessed with a killer design. TenPoint Turbo GT is also a lightweight crossbow. The weight of the bow is only 6.8 lbs. Once cocked the axle-to-axle width is only 13.5″. Thanks to the compact and durable limbs, Turbo GT is capable of pulling some insane shots.
When the Turbo GT came out budget crossbows weren’t that powerful back then. Right now you can buy budget crossbows that are a powerhouse. It’s TenPoint we are talking about. They didn’t disappoint the hunters with the power of this crossbow. Turbo GT is capable of generating 107 ft-lbs of kinetic energy.
No matter what kind of hunting you are planning to do, you can do it with the Turbo GT. Experts will suggest you to, not use this crossbow for big-game hunting ( we have gathered several crossbows for hunting in here). Which I agree on too. 107 ft-lbs is quite powerful. But it’s not powerful enough to slay titans.
This powerhouse of a crossbow is capable of firing bolts at an incredible 360 FPS. I know what you are thinking. You are probably thinking, how is 360 FPS impressive? Where most modern crossbows are capable of firing at over 390-400 FPS. We can’t forget the Turbo GT came out in 2016. That’s almost 5 years ago.
Even now 360 FPS is considered to be good speed. You can do hunting with it and other sports activities. It’s not harsh enough to cost you performance. On the contrary, it’s quite beginner-friendly. It’s powerful enough to provide you with thrill while still letting you control it.
The draw weight is always a concern of TenPoint crossbows. TenPoint makes crossbows immensely powerful. But that comes with a cost. You will be glad to hear that, Turbo GT doesn’t suffer from that problem.
The 175 lbs draw weight of Turbo GT is well inside the crossbow draw weight standard. On top of that, you can use the rope cocker to reduce the draw weight even further. Regarding draw weight, I have no complaints.
Regarding noise, I have only complaints. Despite what most other reviewers told you guys, this crossbow is not silent. It’s far from being silent. Besides lubing the string and minimizing the contact between the string and the flight track, TenPoint didn’t provide any limb or string sound dampeners.
To counter this issue, you need to buy noise dampeners from TenPoint or a third party, and install them yourself. It costs more money and time. Now you know where TenPoint cut the cost.
TenPoint Turbo GT Review Summary
Even in 2021, TenPoint Turbo GT can give other non-branded budget crossbows a run for their money. Now you can find them for excellent pricing. It’s well worth the money you are planning to spend on it. All you have to do is, install noise dampeners. It will remove the pinging and the string noise from the crossbow. It will also reduce the vibration from the crossbow.
At the end of the day, Turbo GT is an excellent beginner crossbow. I wish, I had it when I started crossbow hunting for the first time. Lucky for you, you don’t have to wish for it. You can buy the crossbow right now if you want.
I know you guys like TenPoint as much as I do. That’s why I love reviewing their stuff. If you have any questions regarding the crossbow or its performance, don’t hesitate to ask them down below. Till next time, take care and keep chasing.
