TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX Crossbow Review [385 FPS]

Reviews-&-Ratings-Of-TenPoint-Carbon-Nitro-RDX-Crossbow

Crossbows are now part of our everyday hunting life. As each day passes on, new hunters join the tribe. Most of them suffer from one dilemma, which crossbow to buy? What’s the best for them? How do you even determine which crossbow is best for you? That depends on a lot of factors.

We are not here to talk about the best crossbow on the market. We already talked about that on TargetChaser plenty of time. Instead, let’s talk about a crossbow that appeals to both newbies and veterans. That’s right, I am talking about the TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX. Now say repeat that name without taking a breath. Wait! You don’t have to do that. Anyway, let’s start the review.

Build Quality

Now that we memorized the name, let’s move on with the review. TenPoint TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX is not an expensive crossbow. Like most TenPoint crossbows, it’s somewhere in the middle of the spectrums. It’s not super expensive. It’s not super cheap either.

But the price-tag is quite affordable. That’s why it attracts both newbies and veterans. The weight of the TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX is 7.8 lbs. Almost 8lbs. It’s on the verge of leaving the lightweight genre.

But it’s not quite there, yet. If you start modding the crossbow and add some more accessories, you can easily hit the 8 lbs mark. Which isn’t something to boast about. Carrying an 8 lbs crossbow the whole day will cost you some fatigue.

We can’t forget the TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX is almost 35″ long. Despite the height, the weight distribution of the crossbow is quite good. You won’t feel toe or front heavy at all. Good job on TenPoint’s part.

Power

This is not the most powerful crossbow TenPoint ever made. But for the price, Each arrow will fly with 122 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. That’s enough to participate in the big-game hunting

Don’t think 122 ft-lbs of kinetic energy is low. It can annihilate the organs of a deer with ease. All you have to do is land the shot. With the TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX, you can do that easily. Despite being fairly powerful it’s also highly accurate.

Speed

I was expecting this to have less speed. To my surprise, TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX can fire arrows at up to 385 FPS. That’s quite a big number. Where most of the crossbows under $1000 tend to fire around 350-370 FPS. Some of them do fire over 390 FPS.

Draw Weight

With that much power and speed, you can expect a fair number of draw weight. Again surprising everybody, the draw weight of the Carbon Nitro RDX is only 165 lbs. That’s quite a low number. Any beginner can easily cock the crossbow.

You can lower the draw weight by 50% too. All you have to do is use a rope cocker. Now you got a crossbow that is not only fast but is also powerful, and it requires a low amount of force to load.

Noise

A crossbow is not complete and ready for hunting till you eliminate the noise coming from it. Carbon Nitro RDX does come with pre-installed noise dampeners. They do a decent job at suppressing the sound and reducing the vibration. But for a completely silent experience, I will recommend going for after-market noise dampeners.

TenPoint Carbon Nitro RDX Review Summary

Carbon Nitro RDX is a good crossbow for the money. One of the best in this price range for sure. But it could have done some things even better. That would increase the price significantly. It should appeal to beginner archers due to the low draw weight. In case you are thinking of gifting someone a crossbow for the next hunting season, go for the Carbon Nitro RDX.

It was short, but I hope you guys found this review useful. If you want to know more about the first-hand experience of the crossbow, don’t hesitate to ask them in the comments below.
