Instead of 3 phones each time, they only release two crossbows.

You guys were probably wondering, where is the review of the Ravin R26? Here is the long-awaited review that you guys were waiting for. Without making you guys wait any further, let’s start.

Build Quality

Build quality has always been a strong suit of Ravin crossbows. They use the best material possible for their weapons. Ravin didn’t disclose the exact material they used. But it’s not carbon fiber that’s for sure.

As we mentioned in the specifications, the weight is merely 6.5lbs. For that weight, it took some serious effort to make it durable. It’s Ravin we are talking about. They are one of the best crossbow manufacturers in the world.

A Little Thing About The Size Of Ravin r26

It’s one of the most compact compound crossbows on the market. When you cock the crossbow the width of this is only 5.75 inches. The uncocked width is 9.25 inches. Both are quite low for a crossbow.

But don’t let the size fool you. This thing packs a serious punch. Big things come in small packages after all.

Due to its size. You can hunt from a ground blind, tree stand, or other confined places. All of them are quite literally impossible to do with a huge crossbow. I mean not impossible, sure you can do that. Is that struggle worth it? Not in my book.

Deadly Speed!

Ravin R26 can easily hit the 400 FPS mark. There aren’t many crossbows that actually hit the 400 FPS mark every hit. But hey Ravin managed to do that with consistency.

Ravin ships 0.003 bolts. All of the bolts are manufactured by Ravin for their crossbows. If you lose them you need to go back to Ravin to buy them.

The weight of the bolts is 400 grain. That is when you install them with a 100-grain field point. This crossbow is capable of enough to reck through medium-size games.

HeliCoil Technology

HeliCoil technology is a big reason why Ravin R26 won the crossbow of the year 2019 editor’s choice award. The coil keeps the cables away from both top and bottom cams. Making the cams more balanced.

Due to this, you can rotate the crossbow at 360° without disturbing the cams. Making the angled shot even more versatile. I can honestly say, HeliCoil technology is a blessing for the community. I hope more manufacturers pick this up and improve it even further.

Trigger System

The trigger system on this is also quite new and unique. When you load in the bolt, the trigger slides forward on the rail. When it travels forward it fastens to the precise point of the center of the crossbow.

Thanks to this the nock can travel in a completely straight line. This deadly combination with an unmatched downrange precision should be the highlight of this crossbow.

Crossbow Scope

The scope that comes with this crossbow is not bad. It comes with a 9 point reticle. Out of the box they are calibrated from 20 yards to 100 yards.

The reticle is etched on the glass. The fully multi-coated optics provides an incredible visual experience. With 1.5-5x magnification, you also have a wide field of view.

Bolts And Quiver

Ravin includes 6 400 grain bolts with their crossbow. If you run out of them, you can always buy extra from Ravin. Keep in mind, they are not cheap. All of the bolts are made out of pure 100% carbon fiber.

They feature high-impact brass threaded inserts, and 2 inches offset vanes.

The quiver mounting system is unique. It’s detachable and easy to mount. If you are feeling like not using the quiver, you can take it out and keep it in your bag.

Cocking System

Ravin won’t make you buy a third party cocking device or use a rope to cock the crossbow. R26 comes with its own unique easy to crank built-in cocker. It can de-cock the device safely too.

To use cock the crossbow you need to use 12-pounds cocking force. It’s not that much at all. Easy to reload. I will admit, the reload time could have been lesser. It’s one of the major cons for me.
