The CZ Scorpion is one of the most popular pistol calibers on the market right now. The user base of this gun is all over the place and each of them uses the gun for different purposes compared to others.
But all of them can agree on one thing, the brace system of a stock Scorpion is terrible at best. That’s why, the first thing a lot of folks upgrade on their CZ Scorpion is the stock brace.
But how do you determine which is the best brace for CZ Scorpion? Glad you asked. You don’t have to search further as I bring you answers. Without further ado, let’s jump straight into it.
1. Gear Head Works Tailhook Mounting Kit & Tailhook Mod 1
The first brace I want to recommend to you guys is from Gear Head Works. A brand that is known for making lots of braces for different guns. This one is a complete kit. The first part of the kit is the mounting adapter.
After installing it, you can either go for Tailhook Mod 1 or any other brace as long as it’s supported by the module you just installed on your gun. The adapter is made out of polymer and the Mod 1 is made out of aluminum.
If you go for a different brace, then you can go for a polymer or a brace with a strap if those are your priorities. But this combination makes the gun more stable for two-hand uses and reduces the recoil a bit. Most importantly, the gun is more fun to use with a brace.
Pros & Cons
Installation is a breeze. You will have a hard time finding an easier to install than this brace.
The main con is obviously, it’s not a kit. You get the unit that adds the capability of adding Mod 1 and something similar. But you will need to buy a similar thing separately. That adds to the extra cost.
2. SB Tactical Evo SBTEV-01-SB Pistol Stabilizing Brace
We all know SB Tactical is one of the best brands to make any pistol brace. Their products are known worldwide for their performance. Their AR15 pistol braces are some of the most well-known out there. Fortunately for us, they make great Scorpion braces as well.
This brace is not made out of aluminum. Rather, reinforced polymer. Don’t think polymer is thinly crafted and flimsy plastic. This is the same type of polymer most handguns use nowadays anyway. It’s durable and lightweight. Two things you want in a stabilizing brace.
Most importantly, the brace comes with a nylon strap. That’s right if you are someone who wants to use the Scorpion single-handedly and is looking for a brace that will not only make it more stable but also allow you to use it with one hand, this is the brace you have been looking for. You don’t need a gunsmith to install this fits the Scorpion as it is.
Pros & Cons
The pros are simply the durability and stability the brace offers to the gun. It will mitigate a lot of gun-jumping around and add a comfort layer that you were missing in the gun at the beginning.
For some, the cons will be the chassis material. While I understand your hatred for plastic, it’s not typical plastic that you find in toys. It’s the same type of polymer that you find in modern handguns. For others, there are no practical cons present on the brace.
3. SBT EVO-G2 Pistol Stabilizing Brace
If you want to stay up to date with the brace competition, then this one is right up your alley. This is one of the newest offerings from SB Tactical for CZ Scorpion. It has grown up a steady fanbase ever since it was released.
The brace is made out of polymer. It’s high quality and great endurance material. While it’s not as durable as aluminum, for example, it’s not poorly crafted either. The brace in the picture doesn’t look anything special. It’s a minimalist pipe dream loaded with quite a few features.
Such as, not requiring a gunsmith and installing this directly on the Scorpion without any issues. Let’s not forget the brace is foldable as well. Thanks to that, you can store it anywhere when you are not using it. If you are feeling like using your gun without a brace, you can take it off with minimal tool usage. That’s why it’s a good choice for competitive shooters who use different braces in different scenarios.
Pros & Cons
The installation process of this brace is straightforward. You don’t need any gunsmith for the job. It will take some time to understand the manual, but if you worked with guns before, it will be a breeze for you.
The main con of this brace would be the price. It’s not a cheap brace by any means. But in my opinion, it’s not “overpriced”. If it was more expensive, then it would have been overpriced. Then again, you and I have different definitions of overpriced.
4. SB Tactical SBA4 Stabilizing Brace
The SBA series from SB Tactical is a cult classic. The SBA4 is kind of the new edition to the family. It’s one of the few braces where it’s completely made out of aluminum. It’s more durable than any braces you have come across so far. But it’s not as affordable as the braces mentioned thus far either.
The compromises are yours to make. If you want a brace made out of 7075 aluminum, then this is the best brace for CZ Scorpion. The craftsmanship is flawless and it doesn’t have any anodization issue either. The weight is low and installation is easy as well.
One unfortunate thing about this is that it doesn’t support the EVO directly. For you to use it on EVO and non-AR15 pistols you will need an adapter. The Sylvan Arms Titan CZ Scorpion folding adapter and the Anarchy Outdoors CZ Scorpion Arm Brace Adapter are two of the best aftermarket AR15 brace adapters for CZ Scorpion EVO.
Pros & Cons
It’s one of the most durable and lightweight braces available for CZ Scorpion. That is also the con, it doesn’t support the Scorpion EVO directly as I mentioned earlier. But you can find ways to solve that issue. Then again, that calls for extra spending, so in the grand scheme of things, it’s a con for EVO users, not so much for regular Scorpion users.
5. SB Tactical SBA3 Pistol Stabilizing Brace
Whenever you searched for an AR15 pistol brace, I’m 100% sure this was always the top result. The SBA3 is not a new brace by any means. It’s been part of the community for a while and it’s only getting more and more new users.
The brace is also made out of 7075 aluminum and it’s not as heavy as the SBA4 either. If you are one after the looks, then this might look more appetizing to you over the SBA4. Realistically, if I were to smash the two together, both of them would survive it as they are made out of the same material.
Installing this on the Scorpion is easy. Implying you have either this or this. They are a necessary part of the installation and you will need to give up the buffer tube. If you want the buffer tube, then the SBA4 is still a better choice for you.
Pros & Cons
The main pro of this is durability. Incredibly well-built product that deserves all the love it gets. That’s the reason often it goes out of stock cause the demand is that high.
As for the con, it doesn’t support the Scorpion directly. While it’s made for AR Pistols, it’s not made for Scorpion directly. As I mentioned above, you will need an adapter to install this on your gun.
How To Choose The Best Brace For Cz Scorpion?
Now that you know what your options are when it comes to braces, how do you choose one from them? After all, they are all supposed to be the best, right? Correct. They are all good at their job, one better than the other depending on the task given at hand.
Now, you can follow your guts, or you can follow a systematic list that will help you in decision-making.
Build Quality
Let’s be real, no one wants their brace breaking on them while they are in the middle of a competition. That’s why durability is one of the main parts of a good brace. If the brace you are going for has a bad reputation of breaking within a year or two of regular use, then it’s wise to not go for that.
Budget
If you want only one way of choosing the best brace for you, then this is the most sensible option. Ask yourself, how much am I comfortable spending? Do I need an aluminum brace? Is that decision financially sensible to me? If the answer is yes, then you already know what’s your best option.
Fitment
As you can tell by now, not all braces fit all guns. Well, duh that’s common sense, right? Well, you might be wrong about that. A lot of people think all Scorpions share the same fitment and all AR 15 pistol braces will fit their gun. Couldn’t be more wrong. To avoid that situation, you might want to read the description if it fits your gun or not. If it doesn’t, look for adapters.
To Fold or Not to Fold?
Depends. If you have issues with space and want to make the best out of it, then a folding brace is better. If you don’t have any issues with space and don’t care about if the gun is shorter or longer, then anything goes.
Conclusion
And that’s about it folks. Those are some of the best braces for CZ Scorpion. And I threw in a couple of options for the EVO as well. You are welcome. I know it’s still more than one. It’s not possible to single out, sadly.
I hope the decision-making process is easier for you now. With that said, that’s all for now. Hope you had fun reading it and learned something useful while at it. Will see you with a new one soon. Till then, have fun and take care of yourselves and the lovely weapons.
