Build Quality

The build quality of this scope is pretty good. It’s made out of aluminum. As it’s a big scope, the aluminum density is quite high too. Making the total weight of the scope a bit on the higher end.

Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60×80 weighs 5.1 pounds. That’s why you need a tripod to pair this scope with. Unfortunately, Bushnell won’t give you one. To prevent moisture from going in, the inside of Legend Ultra is nitrogen purged. Nitrogen purging makes a scope fogproof.

There aren’t any O-ring sealing involved in the making of this scope. Despite that, Bushnell Legend Ultra HD is completely waterproof. You can use this scope in any given weather.

Optics Quality

To make the lenses of the Legend Ultra HD. Bushnell used extra-low dispersion HD glasses. Best of both worlds. ED glasses are excellent for low-light performance. While HD glasses are good at producing bright and crispy images. You combine the two, you get a deadly unstoppable force of nature.

The lenses are fully multi-coated. This scope is already fully waterproof. To take it even further, Bushnell uses a coating called Rain-Guard HD.

Normally you will see blurry images when the objective lens is full of water. But with rain-guard HD coating, you will see clear images without blur even under heavy rain. That’s an excellent feature to have.

Magnification

The 45° angled eyepiece comes with a 20-60x variable magnification. Meaning you can change the magnification from 20x to up to 60x. With 60x magnification, you can now spy on your neighbor from your grandma’s house. I am just kidding, don’t do that. Anyway, with that much magnification, you can easily see over 1000 yards.

One of the biggest concerns with any spotting scope is distortion. If a scope uses low-quality glass and eyepiece, then when you zoom in. The transition won’t be smooth. It will be blurry and you will notice some blurriness on the top side of the scope. Bushnell made sure they don’t have any issues like this. To eliminate distortion, Bushnell went for ED and HD glass. Two of the best in the business.

Digiscoping

As this is not a tactical spotting scope. Meaning it does not feature a reticle. A lot of you probably are looking to get this for digiscoping. Don’t fret, the lack of an included tripod doesn’t take the overall value away from Legend Ultra.

I know the weight of this scope is a bit on the higher end. For digiscoping, you will always use a tripod. The weight won’t be an issue anymore when you do that. The 45° angled eyepiece is a perfect angle to mount a universal phone mount.

With 60x magnification and a wide field of view. You can go ham on your photo capturing journey. If you do take this for digiscoping, don’t forget to share your photos with us.

Birdwatching

Spotting scopes are a necessity for birdwatching. Birdwatching is a lot of fun and a nice hobby. If a spotting scope has too much distortion, then you won’t have a fun time watching birds with it.

As Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60×80 doesn’t have any distortion. You can easily watch birds with this for hours. The 45° angled eyepiece is also a good option for long birdwatching sessions.

Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60x80 Review Summary

Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60×80 is an excellent spotting scope there is no doubt about that. The weight can be a deal-breaker for a lot of people. I understand how you feel. If you can live with the weight and get a good metal-based tripod. Then you can do things with this that you could only imagine.

With that said I have to end the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60×80 review here. It was fun reviewing this scope for you guys. If you have any questions left, feel free to ask them down in the comments. Till we meet again, keep chasing, and be safe.
